Crescent City Thunder

On behalf of Tulane University, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), we are pleased to invite you to participate in a terrorist weapons of mass destruction (WMD) tabletop exercise (TTX) named “Crescent City Thunder” on Wednesday, 15 April 2020, beginning with registration at 8:00 am at the Drury Plaza Hotel New Orleans located at 820 Poydras, New Orleans, Louisiana. The TTX exercise will present a training scenario that involves terrorists attempting to acquire and use weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

Crescent City Thunder will center on a terrorist-created WMD/radiological incident(s) at Tulane University and the greater New Orleans area, impacting the community and involving response and coordination from the local to federal levels. Crescent City Thunder is part of the Silent Thunder Exercise Series designed to allow collaboration among representatives from local, state and federal agencies with a shared stake in ensuring a positive outcome.

Crescent City Thunder will provide a no-fault, site-specific TTX where leaders from all responding and stakeholder organizations can exercise both their crisis and consequence management capabilities for a terrorist WMD incident.

Please note that a working lunch will be provided.
